On the heels of opening a new studio, Toronto-based designer Corrine Anestopoulos unveils Biko’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection: Lasso the Moon. The new collection uses unique and rare vintage curiosities to invoke imagination and a sense of adventure: from shiny chainmaille-infused necklaces, to handcast brass pendants, and swaths of vibrant colour.
“The Biko woman is strong, spirited and independent–this season I saw her as a modern day pioneer who forges her own path and reaches for the stars,” says Corrine Antestopoulos: “The hidden gem in Lasso the Moon is that each piece embodies a unique story defined by both the wearer and the inspiration behind the jewellery.”
Biko has also returned with pieces from their signature Biko Classics collection.
NEW Collection
Biko’s Lasso the Moon collection contains over 50 items, including necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, with the addition of dark statement chainmaille, custom cut stones and oxidized brass pendants.
The Double Chainmaille Bracelet (55$) features rubber and brass in fall colour favourites, complemented with the royal blues, orange/reds and dove greys of the Mila Bracelets (99$).
Lasso the Moon’s must-have piece is the Giant’s Ring Necklace (115) , forged from the ring of the Giant from the Barnum and Bailey Circus in the 1950s with his name, Jack Earle, and height, 8’ 6.5”, to create an oxidized brass pendant.
